Favorite Photo Spots in St. George, Utah

Hell’s Canyon Trail Head

If you love Southern Utah’s red rock, Hell’s Canyon Trailhead is the perfect backdrop for stunning photos. Just a 3-minute walk down the sandy trail, you’ll have access to beautiful vistas in every direction. This is my favorite alternative to Snow Canyon because it’s free to access, and the trail is very quiet in the evenings.

Tonaquint Gardens

Tonaquint is high on my list for spring, summer, and fall shoots. It’s easy to access, and there is so much variety in such a small area. Most of the park is completely shaded early in the evening.

Hela Seegmiller Historical Farm

I love this charming park because it’s beautiful every season of the year. If a rustic vibe is what you are looking for, Hela Seegmiller Historical Farm might be the perfect spot for your photos. Keep in mind that this place is often booked for events and weddings on the weekends.

Red Reef Trail Head

Located in Leeds, Utah, this location is a beautiful mix of red rocks and green cottonwood trees. The trail is sandy, and parking can be limited. I recommend taking photos here on a weeknight as this trail surges with weekend hikers.

Kirkland Fields

Green in the spring and orange in the fall, this spot is very popular for a reason. It is important to know that this is a real farmer’s field, and even though they allow photos on the property, it’s still used for animals. I’ve been here when it’s muddy from watering and when cows are grazing.

Brigham Young Winter Home

I love this location for its historic charm, picket fences, and big shady trees.

Main Street Area St George

Downtown has so many unique pockets to choose from. Looking for an urban, historic, or vintage vibe? There is a spot downtown that could be perfect for your pictures. I love this location in summer because you don’t have to hike your loved ones down a trail in 100-degree weather, it’s green, and there are lots of spots for shade.

Snow Canyon State Park

It’s a popular spot for a reason! Snow Canyon is beautiful and offers a dramatic and unique backdrop in every direction. The reason it falls last on my list is because of the fees. Taking professional photos in Snow Canyon State Park requires a pricey photo permit. A $60 fee will be added to all sessions at Snow Canyon State Park. Your family may also have to pay a $15 entry fee to access certain parts of the park. Red Reef Trail, Cougar Cliffs, and Hell’s Canyon are great alternatives.
